Angela's Story
“I started running in my mid-20’s, but then life took over and for many years focused upon life, PhD and my career, which entailed a lot of late -night meetings and project negotiations as well as travelling around so it just wasn’t possible. I didn’t pick my running shoes back up until a good 30 years later, just after lockdown, when I didn’t have very much to challenge me, other than training a lockdown border collie puppy. The main reason I got into running was to keep fit, but I found that running has many benefits; including being cheaper on a day to day basis than joining a gym.”
Why I chose one Fylde?
“I respect the work that One Fylde do, they are an awesome team who give so much personally. I have had the pleasure of meeting a couple of members of their team, and I listen to their radio whenever I am able to in work. The joy they give me and the inspiration that emits from their work is immeasurable.”
“I would like to raise as much as possible, I don’t want to set a benchmark – I’d like to see what we raise for the first event and then perhaps aspire to double it at each event.”
Angela's 2024 Challenges
Blackpool Marathon - April 21st
The Blackpool Marathon was first run in 2004. It has become popular and permanent annual fixture in the running calendar. The race is often described as a flat and fast coastal marathon. The course takes runners along the Blackpool seafront past the many sights, including Golden Mile; St Annes and Lytham. It is very popular with runners looking to achieve a PB.
The race starts in Blackpool, from there runners head south to Lytham St Annes where they turn and run back towards Cleveleys before turning south again. The half marathon finish line is back in Blackpool near the start, while marathon runners continue to repeat the route.
